Where it began: In September 2009 I began training with Gym Movement creator Frankie Faires using range of motion (ROM) testing and learning the foundational concepts of programming using my own Biofeedback.
Previous to this I was a dedicated advocate of set in stone programs, load and exercise cycling plans, and high tension training techniques. I was certain at that time there was nothing better than what I had been doing. I was making progress, I was getting stronger. I was happy but I was still on the look out for anything which would accelerate my progress. Frankie said he had something for me to try.
Frankie suggested I put my training concepts to the test. The challenge was simple- Try this out. If you don’t like it and it does not work than we are done here. If it does work we will continue your education.
I spent several months using biofeedback in my training. At first I was attempting to use it in conjunction with a KettleBell lifting program but quickly I found the set in stone schedules of the program did not yield the same results as simply doing what drills tested best.
My progress was accelerating daily, stronger, leaner and smoother moving every workout. I am already obsessive compulsive with my workouts, and now I knew everyday would be marked with new personal records in every exercise everyday.
After using the protocol for 9 months now, there is no turning back for me. I now do more, easier than ever before. Feats of strength which I had projected would take months and months to get now fall within weeks. Pain, soreness, and fatigue from training are a thing of the past. Best of all we are continuing to learn more and more about the body and refine this system of training monthly.

While I was making this progress, I was also planning a workshop with my good friend Brad Nelson. Brad and I have put on several workshops in the past and we use a simple thought process– ALWAYS over deliver.
I called Brad and told him it is time for a new Grip and Rip, and this year we are going to blow it up. We set the date and got everything stacked to kill it.
The workshop was on the 6th of Feb 2010. We had a great group of people: Professional Trainers, Mixed Martial artists, Strength athletes, College Professors, and a few weekend warriors who simply wanted to take their training to its next level.
Over 7 Hours we delved deep in to foundational lifting, fat loss, programming and physique transformation.
Best of all- We filmed it.
We released the DVD in March. The response was massive- the first 150 copies sold out in under 36 hours.
In early May, Brad and I teamed back up to shoot additional footage for the DVD. We wanted to do better, show more, and make it easier for you to make your goals a reality. We added another 30 minutes of content to the DVD and lined it up.
I had 120 copies of Grip and Rip 2.1 prepared for sale, we sold out in 28 hours.
