Master of Horror International Grip Contest, Saturday 4 August 2012

by adam on July 8, 2012

Fin grip champion Juha Harju and I are teaming up to present a three event grip contest the first weekend of August. Juha has named this contest “Master of the Horror Grip” and will be the first of several new combination contests we are going to host.

The events are griptopz shallow hub lift, 4 attempts. Ironmind Hub Lift, 4 attempts. Ironmind rolling thunder, last man standing format.

The monster of northern Europe, Juha Harju is one of the best grip athletes in the world

This contest will be scored using the Fin’s system. The US scores will be sent to Juha Saturday afternoon, their competition is set for Sunday morning. Final scores and placings will be posted Sunday evening.

Rules for the Hub lift come directly from the Ironmind challenge, please note a very specific clause

The lifter starts the lift with all five fingertips of the lifting hand touching the plate at the base of the Hub. It is permissible that the fingers rotate somewhat from this position during the course of the lift, but holding the Hub as if grabbing a door knob is not allowed.

Rules for the World of Grip shallow hub is the exact same as what we have contested in World’s Strongest Hands, the “claw grip” is the only authorized set up.

Rules for the rolling thunder will be the same as per the IM site, the two most notable rules state you may not grip the end of the sleeve in order to interfere with the revolving handle, and you may not tilt the handle out of a horizontal position. All rules will be explained in detail on game day.

I will be presenting gold, silver, and bronze medals for the top three of this meet. It will be an Open class, but all contestants will be weighed for records purposes with the shallow hub.

Start time is 10 AM at Movement Minneapolis Plymouth. Expected ending time is 1130 AM. Registration is 5 dollars. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Date: August 4th, 2012
Time: 10am
Registration: $5
Events: Griptopz Shallow Hub, IronMind Hub, IronMind Rolling Thunder.

Lifting 263 lbs on the Rolling thunder, will have the power to edge a 1st place finish?

Sounds like a great idea for online challenge.

Sounds like a great time Adam, but Jodie and I are gone all day so we won’t be able to make it.

I saw another huge 2 hand pinch from you! Whoo ha! Kick some butt in CA.

Rock on
