2012 Tactical Strength Challenge Minneapolis, MN this month.

by adam on May 6, 2012

The decade long tradition of the Tactical Strength Challenge continues this month.

The Tactical Strength Challenge is a three event contest format first developed in the kettlebell community which has gained popularity over the years. It is a pretty solid challenge, maximum barbell deadlift followed by a set of maximum rep pull-ups ending with a 5 minute kettlebell snatch test.

The Contest will begin at 11 AM, Saturday May 12th, at Movement Minneapolis Plymouth. It is free for all to attend and compete it, regardless of membership status. All are welcome to join.

Rules for the events:
Deadlift, 3 attempts maximum weight. This is a raw deadlift event, no support equipment is permitted with exception of a lifting belt. The lifter may use the conventional or sumo stance. The lifter will raise the barbell to a fully erect standing position with the bar at arms length and lower upon command from the judge. Hitching is specifically forbidden.

Max Reps Pull Ups, 1 attempt. The athlete will start from a pronated (palms forward) dead hang (arms fully extended) and will pull their body up to the bar until the chin clears the bar. They will then lower back to a dead hang and begin the next rep. The attempt will continue until the athlete lowers them self from the bar and touches the floor. As a specific note: The reps must be started at finished from a completely extended dead hang position. Kipping is specifically forbidden, the reps must be done with strict pulling strength.

Kettlebell Snatch Test: The athlete will have 5 minutes to elevate the kettebell from below waist height to overhead at arms length. The rests must be performed in a single uninterrupted motion, pressing out the rep will result in a “no count”. The athlete may switch hands as often as they please, and can set down the kettlebell at any point.

Registration will be at 1030 along with warm ups. Athletes must indicate which category they are lifting in Open, Elite, or masters (if qualified). All nonmembers will sign a waiver before entering the exercise floor of Movement Minneapolis. Chalk will be provided for the event, please do not bring your own.

Uniform will be shorts or exercise pants, a clean t shirt, and clean pants.
