What is All-Round Weight Lifting? It’s a strongman sport. A wide collection of the “odd lifts” which sadly have passed out of main stream view in favor of the exercise of the month in a magazine or the workout of the day. The USAWA does of course feature the staple lifts of Bench Press, Squat, Deadlift, Snatch, and Jerk…to include upwards of 20 varieties of each.
There are a number of barbell lifts from the floor, overhead lifts, dumbbell lifts, and specialized lifts. Nearly any primary movement you can think of can be contested under the established rules, which mirror the international federations found in Europe and Asia. In the coming months there will be a number of meets contesting a huge range of lifts, literally something for everyone.
