by adam on September 21, 2011

I am happy to host another grip competition this fall to test your might.

The Movement Minneapolis Grip Decathlon will offer 10 challenges to test your hand, wrist, and arm power. The success of the first grip decathlon in May put fire under my ass to get another together quickly.

Who is this challenge for?
Everyone and anyone, especially- Rock Climbers, Power lifters, Strongmen, Arm Wrestlers, Body Builders, Cross Fitters, Martial Artists, and other tough guys!

The Challenge

Do you think you have some mighty hands? By the end of this competition you will know if you do. 12 November 2011 we will find out how strong you are!

This will be a 10 event contest, designed to test crush grip, pinch strength, support grip, levering, endurance, and fortitude. Not only we will maximum effort be contested, maximum endurance will be evaluated with several events to determine who has the strongest hands.

The Events

#1 Grippers with Mash Monster Set, 4 attempts. We will have over 70 grippers which have been measured with the RGC method to establish rating. You will be allowed 4 attempts to close a maximum difficulty. This will not be a rising bar event, you are allowed to go up and down on your attempts. NOTE: Womens class will use the World of Grip Vulcan gripper with White and Orange spring.

Attempts will be made first with the Atomgripz quad band smooth (rated 158 lbs, 5 points per close), next with the Atomgripz triple band smooth (rated 188 lbs, 3 points per close), and finally with the Atomgripz double band smooth (rated 82 lbs, 1 point per close). A combined score will be made from each successful rep. Contestants will have at least 5 minutes between grippers for recovery.

#6 One hand pinch on the Griptopz Hub. Lift is performed with claw style pinch, lifting the tool to a 16.5″ standard. Rounds system, 4 attempts, rising bar.

Scoring: We will use the North American Grip Sport Association Scoring system for all events. Best possible point total is 1000 points. Event event will have a 100 point possible. The best number per event is 100 points, each number under that is scored in proportion to the best lift that day.
