I have been hyped up all week after the first Movement Minneapolis Grip Decathlon. We had a great time, saw some fantastic lifts, and introduced a number of new people to the awesome of Grip Sport.

Classes: We will once again feature three classes for this decathlon. An advanced class, an open class, and a womens class.
The spirit and intent of the advanced class/ open class division is to maintain a level playing field. As such I request all high level competing grip athletes, COC’s, and certified Mash Monsters register in the advanced class. If you are not certain on what class to compete in please contact me.
Scoring: This is a sanctioned NAGSA event will feature the official scoring system. Each event will be worth 100 points. The all scores are based off of the top lift in that class. The winner of each class and placement is decided by the highest point score out of 1,000.
As a sanctioned NAGSA meet this is a qualifier for the 2012 Grip Nationals. Athletes who score an 800 lbs total in the Gripper/Axle/Pinch will be awarded an Elite status. For more details on the scoring system please click HERE for rules.

Yes!! I’m in! I didn’t want to wait another year. I’ll sponsor. I can give SG gift certificates or special custom prizes. Let me know brother.
Awesome! I had a great time last weekend and would totally be interested in another round. I will have to wait to see how my fall schedule shakes out before I commit, but I’m definitely feeling positive about it.
I’ll be there! REMATCH with Mr. Pitts.
Adam,
I’ve been talking to my wife today and there’s a decent chance I can make it up to the contest in November! I’ll train a bit and try to get a PR contest gripper close – maybe on Josh’s old #3.5 that you just got. My wife and I have a friend who lives in White Bear Lake so she might drive over there and spend the day with her while I compete in your grip contest. That would be excellent!
I’ve got some questions about the contest.
What time does it start? And do you have an estimate on how long it will last? I think you run yours pretty tightly and it’s most likely 4 hours or under. Maybe 5. Even 5 hours is pretty reasonable for a grip contest with that many events.
Are you going to post the details of the grip medley? Like weights, and what each feat is supposed to be. And any significant details. Like a super thin 25lb plate that happens to be larger diameter than a normal 25lb plate – to be plate curled once. That sort of thing. I know I’m kind of being a pain about it. But you know I like to get as many details as I can so that I can do some specific contest training for medley work. Medleys – mainly due to my weak pinch – are another place where I get socked in the face during contests. 2HP being the big one.

Ben, start time will be 10AM, finish time likely to be around 3 PM. I keep it moving but a 10 event contest takes some time. On the medley, I do not form the medley until a week out. The posted description says it all- be ready to try out a bunch of stuff.
Adam -
I am in!!!!
