For some reason I often have little in the way of topics to write on when Sunday hits, but Monday morning I wake up full of new stuff.
So here are some updates worth sharing
#1 April Tactical Strength Challenge date change.
I am moving the TSC from 9 April to 16 April. I have several scheduling conflicts and I am not interested in having to miss either of the events.
The location for the 2011 April International Tactical Strength Challenge will remain at Movement Minneapolis in Plymouth MN. We will start at 10 AM, so please be at Movement no later than 930 AM for weigh in and registration. As always this is a FREE competition honoring a decade long tradition of friendly competition.
All are welcome to come. Events will be maximum barbell deadlift, three attempts, maximum pull ups from dead hang, one attempt, and maximum kettlebell one arm snatches, 5 minute test.
#2 New skill stuff I am learning.
I have been working on my juggling, its pretty fun to do. I still suck at it, but that gives me a bright light at the end of the tunnel on how good it can go with even minor practice.
Drawing: I used to draw a lot as a kid. For some reason I stopped, and now find myself unable to do stick figures. So one of the new things I am going to teach myself to do is draw cartoons. I would really like to learn to tattoo people, but no one should let me near their skin until I can color in between the lines.
#3 Movement Minneapolis Grip Sport Decathlon is approaching!
14 May 2011 will be the 10 event contest, testing all facets of grip strength. We will feature multiple classes to accommodate all skill levels from newbie to advanced. Registration will be $35 for the contest. This is a sanctioned North American Grip Sport Association event and your gripper+pinch+axle total will be added to the record books for ranking purposes.
#4 Womens Self Defense course at Movement Minneapolis, limited space available.
I will be teaching a 3 hour combatives and awareness course Sunday 10 April and I will have 4 slots for attendance. Course will be 30 dollars, contact me if you would like to attend.
#5 New Work Shop
I don’t know what I am going to call this, but I know what I will be teaching. I will be doing the full day course on 15 May, the Sunday after the decathlon to allow my traveling competitors a chance to attend. I will be posting full details on this tomorrow.
#6 training progress
Moving faster each month. I thought it was a pretty big deal in Oct when I got in over 800 reps with my grippers in one month, I have done over 1,300 reps in one week now.
The results are speeding up as well, I would summarize it all in one sentence.
I have gotten better at getting better faster.
I like better, and I really like faster. When those two words are in the same sentence it all makes a lot of sense to me.
#7 Have you downloaded the Ebook?
Look on the right hand side of the page, put your email in there and get the book. Read it, and put it all to use. You will be pleased with the results.
#8 Book recommendations?
Got any good ones for me?
#9 Did you read these?
I got a lot more coming at you fast, so stay tuned.

I just read War Is A Force That Gives Us Meaning
and The Cult of The Amateur.
I think you’d enjoy them both.

Josh told me a year ago those are pretty bad ass books. All revenge stories right?
First one is kind of stand alone, other 2 are connected. Very refreshing writing style. Generally about decent people who find a way to get back to assholes who screwed them.
If you can get past all of the Apple product placements. Did you notice that the Mac is the computer of choice for moral magazine crusaders and Russian thugs?
and all these trendy hipsters, apparently there is nothing better than sitting in a coffee shop with a Mac drinking a sugary milk shake thing while turning your nose up to those who don’t know how awesome it all is.
Read the first one and thought it was seriously overrated. I know people love these books but I don’t get why. You can have my copy if I still have it.
Adam,
Here’s some books that I think you’d enjoy:
-Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch – Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
-Wasp Factory – Iain Banks
-Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal – Christopher Moore
Ideally while wearing fingerless gloves in July.
