The 2″ Vertical Bar challenges the support grip to the utmost. A legal pull is 2″ off the ground.
My goal is 350lbs each hand in competition. My understanding is the current world record is 329 lbs held by Ryan Johnson. I have hit 325 over 7″ off the ground, 330 3″ off the ground, and 332 1/2 tonight right at 2″. I managed 4 pulls with this weight before the blood blister appeared under my middle finger callous.
I have no point to this. This is something I want very badly, and I will get it this year.
If you want something, you must go get it.

Awesome stuff Adam, I love your mentality!
“Nobody else has done that? So? Fuck it I will!”
Nobody really knows what the human limit is for anything, we only know what the strongest, fastest or most conditioned person SO FAR has done in any event. Does that mean you cannot beat that because you currently can’t do it? HELL NO!
If people would simply do what they are best at, they would find themselves the best at something. Rather than try to fit myself in to a hole i do not fit, i simply go where I can. Surely V bar, steel bending, Card tearing and finger lifting are not as exciting as say a huge bench or squat, but elite performance always looks good, not matter what the event IMO
Great lifting Adam! I’ve tried doing other stuff myself that I was extremely average at. Proud to say I’m now back on track doing what I’m good at and getting better all the time, helped and motivated by great role models such as yourself
350 is just round the corner!
Rob
Have V-bar pulls had a carryover onto your other grip moves?
Hard to say, I am pretty good at all support lifts except being just above average with the rolling thunder.
Yet another World Record broken…
Think Biofeedback has anything to do with this?
More than a little bit for certain
good stuff adam great job, create a model destroy it, recreate that model and destroy it let your body lead you use biofeedback nothing will stop us outstanding work.
adam
i will be up and running this week for the philly workshop cannot wait will be a major turning point for me and my training cannot wait see you then thanks adam
Mike I am looking forward to it man
Seriously badass.
I wish I’d see the FACES of your competitors when you just go there, and break all existing v-bar records without so much as a smirk on your own face. Pwahaha
Again, grats for the awesome job.
Well on the whole faces of the other guys– the grip community is pretty tight, and everyone is always encouraging others. I would not expect anyone to be sour about any other lift breaking a record, it just shows everyone else where the line in the sand is. So i would not expect anyones head to explode or anything over it, but i will turn some heads on the poundage i hit this year
Hmm that’s good to hear. I’ll admit I didn’t really consider that notion, fooling around as I was.
Heads turning it is, then!
Awesome work Adam! More World Records to come for sure! Whoooo ha!
Rock on
