Don’t Be A Crab

by josh on February 25, 2010

Have you ever watched a crab on the shore crawling backward in search of the Atlantic Ocean, and missing? That’s the way the mind of man operates.

H.L. Mencken

I would add only that it doesn’t have to be that way. Not for us.

Do not make things more complicated than they are. Don’t think average thoughts, don’t go through average workouts, don’t be confused by things that aren’t confusing, and you’ll always be able to find the ocean if you want to.

Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.
