First up, a brief interview with Josh on his training progress using perpetual progress.
Next, Matt demonstrates “Corn Cobb” pull ups. These have been testing really well lately
Finally, some brief clips from my pinch workout last night. Crushed a lot of pinch lifts, and hit some new PRs in th realm of intensity and volume

I definitely think there are more entertaining things you could be doing tonight. I was so tired that morning. I don’t know if I’ve ever been less animated.
On another note, that was only 14 days ago, and today I beat those numbers, volume-wise, by 40,000 lbs.
THAT IS SOME REALLY GOOD STUFF PROGRESS THE EASY WAY, GREAT WORK JOSH .
Josh…. I mean this in the nicest way possible, but your a damn barbarian. I think the librarians at my school have you beat in total weight though… I think 2 of them are 300lbs+, then again they have incredibly high body fat %’s and are women. Whats your Bf%? Does this high volume training just make you hungrier? 3 Months, 30lbs, 10lbs a month on average… that my friend is incredible progress.
Christian
I would say Josh is under 11% BF, he is pretty lean.
Adam, I’ve actually never tested BF. Recommendations for the best way, in your opinion? Actually, I take that back–I did use a digital tester once, but it was only capable of being calibrated up to a height of 6’3″, so I had something like 30% BF on the monitor, which was probably a bit high:)
Those things just guess based an ‘average man’ for specific heights and try and gauge your electrical resistance.
At best they’re a stab in the dark! I believe the most accurate method is submertion testing, although I have no idea how its actually done (just something I’ve heard of), otherwise using calipers and taking measurements of various areas for fat is supposed to give fairly accurate results.
I’m sure google holds the answers
Calibers are good when used to compared a given reading from a past measurment. The only factor for calibers is to have the same person measure the same spots when possibleto have the most accurate readings for comparison.
For example, the only person i have check my BF is Brad Nelson, because he does the measurement the same every time, and we have a running log. It would not help me to get my BF checked in Minot one month, St Paul the next month, Texas a third, because we cannot accurately compare the readings.
Seriously, my best recommendation is go to one of the fatloss clinics in your city, tell them you ONLY want to get checked. offer to pay them 10 bucks or something. Go get checked every 15 days for 2 months by the same person.
When we come down we will bring calibers
Josh you are really packing on the meat! Keep up the hard work
I think my weight will start to shift skyward now that my next target is deadlifts, currently at 162lbs at 5′ 10″ would like to push that upwards whilst losing some fat and boosting my deadlift
If deadlifts aren’t testing well nor any related exercises then its pressing 2nd on the list, want to get that 32kg pressed before the year is out, currently I’m struggling with 25kg.
One thing jumped out at me in the Adam/Josh video – the statement about paradigm shift. That is what I’m struggling with in implementing the perpetual training. That security blanket of a program is tough to give up. HOWEVER, because it is so much fun to train this new way, I’m getting over it.
This giving up of the old (aka “change”) is probably the biggest hurdle to jump over with trying this style of training. It’s a leap of faith. I now have to trust myself.
Amy, your numbers are looking solid. Are you planning on doing the TSC this April?
Unfortunately, no. I’m assisting at the April RKC and can’t be gone another weekend.
Besides, I still can’t do a tactical pullup. Damn these long arms and fata$$. *Sigh*
