If you increase the strength of your best lift 10 %, you will typically end up 3%-5% weaker some where else with the balances getting worse.
If you increase your primary weakness by 3%, you net a 15% increase in strength everywhere else.
This is why Leverage lifting will be the best gains of your life. We are going to tackle the weak points. When the weak points are re-enforced, the whole structure improves.
I have spent the majority of 2009 working on mobility, movement flow, and body communication. The results this year have been far more impressive than last year. I feel this is saying a lot, considering what PRs i racked up in 2008.
I have had many people ask me to throw them a bone, so i shall.
Your new deadlifting schema for the summer
Light day– Your strongest stance for 3 sets of 3 working from 65%-85%
Medium day- Zerchers for 5 sets of 3 working from 50%-85%
Heavy day, your weak stance for 10 sets of 2 working from 60% to 90% dont pull to failure.
Making your strongest stance stronger this summer will be much harder if you ignore the other styles. Focus on getting better numbers in your weaker stance and the zercher, and your strong stance will explode.
(Note due to the volume of pulling 3 days a week, i do not recommend Squats of heavy good mornings during the first 8 weeks)

That second picture is a instant classic.
I know!
Every summer i work on pressing and deadlifts. It is the core of my program, June to August is a very serious pull/press cycle, feats fill in the rest of the year. I think these were from April of 2008, and towards the end of summer 550 was going up very easy. I think this year with all of the mobility work 600 is easily in my grasp.
Pull it with a smile, that is the goal.
great post adam very helpful
Adam
Jason ( of lonestar kettlebell) are having a friendly race to a 600lb pull, please join in for extra motivation and inspiration!
BTW my DL has shot thro the roof lately but my weighted pullups are well down… give and take i guess…
Adam so say conventional is my normal stance, the weak one must be sumo… or could i do 1 handed “suit case” deadlifts? Just hope you could clear this up
